Joonistamine on universaalne keel, mis ümbritseb meid kõikjal. Samuti on see meie kõigi eneseväljendus- ja suhtlusvahend varajasest lapsepõlvest alates. Joonistamine on tegevus, mis ühendab mitmete elualade esindajaid. Näiteks tuntud filmirežissöör Tim Burton on väitnud: “Joonistades saan kõige paremini mõelda”.

Sarah Simblet (“The Drawing Book”): “Mulle isiklikult on joonistamine vahetu nägemise, mõtlemise ja emotsioonide väljendus.

Contemplations

The title can be interpreted in two ways, the interpretations offer a possibility for dialogue: contemplations about drawing and drawing as a tool for recording contemplations.

Drawing is the easiest and most convenient way to save ideas. There are several options: automatist scribbles accompanying the process of assembling ideas or sketching the gathered ideas. Drawing enables us to materialize the ideas into a finished artwork or a phase of a developing process. Drawing is not an objective reflection of the reality, but a subjective interpretation of the processes happening in the inner world of the artist or in the surrounding reality.

Drawing is a universal language that surrounds us everywhere. It is also our tool of self-expression and communication from the earliest childhood. Drawing is an act that unites people from different fields of activities. For example, a well-known film director Tim Burton has stated: “I think best when I’m drawing.”
For the artists it is the best tool to save ideas and make them understandable to the others. Drawing in the contemporary world of art is primarily described by the diversity of subjects and materials.

Sarah Simblet (“The Drawing Book”): “For me personally, drawing is the immediate expression of seeing, thinking and feeling. It is a tool for investigating ideas and recording knowledge and is a reflector of experience. … Techniques and materials are the grammar and vocabulary of drawing and can be studied and shared.”
